The middle motor Bafang BBS01 36v 250w (controller 15A with 6 mosfets) is a very powerful kit (80N.m), easy to use, discreet and silent.

 

The motor is equipped with an internal pedaling sensor so the motor automatically starts when you pedal.
It can be used on roads as it is conform to the European norms* : its nominal power is 250w and its speed is limited to 25km/h.
This kit is compatible with city bikes, hybrid bikes and MTB with a chainset of 68mm to 73mm and a diameter of 33,5mm.

 *The throttle must not be set up on the bike in order to stay conform to the European norms.

In MTB style, you get 80N.m torque to free yourself from most obstacles. The amazing performances of this kit don't prevent the driver from using his transmission efficiently and adapt his pedaling to the hardships of the road.

The production quality of the BAFANG brand is beyond reproach. The wiring and the motor are waterproof (IP65) for a greater longevity. Its architecture enables a quick, easy and discreet integration.

The BBS01 motor is set up in the middle of the bike. The weight is perfectly balanced : you don't feel the weight of the motor and the integration of the motor on the bike is perfect.

The motor is perfectly quiet (<55db).

If you have already tried a 250w classical motor, you will feel the difference between the 2 architectures immediately.

The controller is programmed to offer maximum driving pleasure, a safe use and 2 boost modes for steep paths and bursts of speed.



Because it's programmable !

The kit is delivered with optimum programming. You get 5 levels of power to answer most uses (see below the different ratios).
If you add more levels (6, 7, 8 or 9 levels), the power difference between the levels is not very significant. You tend to stay on the highest levels which is not recommended in terms of autonomy and longevity of the motor. The 5 levels enable to vary the power available from 10% to 100% very quickly. It's an excellent compromise.

The maximum speed is 25km/h for a use on roads open to public trafic in France and Europe. If you cancel this limitation of 25m/h, you loose the right to circulate on open roads and you can reach the thermical shut down before reaching the maximum speed limit.

You only need to set the diameter of the rim. By default we set 26" but if you wish us to change the programming, you can tell us when you place your order.

Here is the list of parameters :

  • Maximum speed from 10 to 50km/h. For a use on roads open to public trafic in France and Europe, the speed should be limited at 25km/h* (by default).
  • Number of levels of assistance : from 3 levels to 9 levels
  • Diameter of the wheel
  • Intensity of backlight
  • Time
  • Time before standby from 0 to 60mn (3 by default)

      What is the impact of the transmission on the kit ?


      Your choice : speed or torque !

      The maximum torque available in the rear wheel of the bike is reached with the highest sprocket of your cassette. Usually, we find a sprocket of32 prongs on a MTB or hybrid bike. If you put a sprocket of 42 prongs, your will get more torque in the wheel but less speed.

      To sum up :

      • By increasing the number of prongs of the last sprocket of the cassette, you increase the torque and the max speed will be lower.
      • By lowering the number of prongs of the last sprocket of the cassette, you lower the torque and the max speed will be more important.

      Uphill, you need to set a high sprocket, like on a classical bike, downhill to go as fast as possible, you'll need to use the smallest sprocket.



      How to measure the real torque in the rear wheel ?

      The real torque is measured with the following formula : Torque (wheel) = Torque (motor) x Number of prongs (sprocket) / Number of prongs (chainwheel)

      For Bafang middle motors, here is the real torque we get in the rear wheel with the 48 prongs chainwheel delivered by default and a classical sprocket of 32 prongs :

      • BBS01 36v 250w : Torque (wheel) =  80 x 32 /48 = 53,33 N.m
      • BBS01 36v 500w : Torque (wheel) = 120 x 32 /48 = 80 N.m
      • BBS02 48v 750w : Torque (wheel) = 120 x 32 /48 = 80 N.m

      You now have all the information to calculate the real torque according to your transmission

      If our competitors announce excessive values for the real torque in the wheel (>150N.m for example), don't hesitate to ask their magical formula :).



      Is the Bafang middle motor compatible with my bike ?


      It's easy to check

      The motor is set up in place of your chainset. It is compatible with all bikes with chainsets with Internal bearings or External bearings to be screwed and which do not exceed 73mm.

      How to use the battery

      Autonomy with a 10Ah* battery

      The autonomy will depend on several parameters : the capacity of the battery (10Ah, 15Ah, 20Ah...), the power of your pedaling assistance, the external temperature, the total weight of the vehicle when loaded, the type of road (on flat road, uphill), the age of the battery and the balancing of the cells...

      Here is the autonomy usually measured with 5 levels of assistance, on flat roads, with a slight pedaling assistance (about 50w) for a speed between 20 and 25km/h.

      • Level 1 : minimum ~150km
      • Level 2 : minimum ~90km
      • Level 3 : minimum ~45km
      • Level 4 : minimum ~30km
      • Level 5 : minimum ~20km

      * batterie non fournie

      When you use the throttle, you can manage your power from 0 to 100%. Your autonomy will then be comprised within 20 and 150km in the same use conditions.

      If you want a lot of autonomy, we recommend you use the 5 levels of assistance at the pedaling as it is more difficult to dose out your power with the throttle. The throttle is usually used for quick ups on MTB. If you use it all the time, you will over use the kit.



      Running in and maintenance of the battery

      The running in enables to improve the autonomy and longevity of the battery. It simply consists in using the battery with the 3rd level of assistance, maximum. That's the optimum use of the kit as it offers power and speed at the same time.

      When the battery is almost empty, you just need to recharge it completely (at once) : this is what we call a cycle of running in.

      The initial running in of the battery must be done on 5 complete cycles. For the maintenance of the battery, repeat this cycle at least once a year and depending on your use.

      The battery must be unplugged from the kit if you don't use your vehicle for a long period. The battery must be protected from cold and dampness (see the recommendations of the use guides).

      Option : switch of manual declutching


      To switch off the power when you change gears

      When you change gears, you need to pedal smoothly. If you don't you might hear a crack and this damages the transmission of the bike. It is better if the motor does not force on the transmission.

      To avoid the wear and tear of the transmission and improve the use of the kit, you can choose the switch of manual declutching which cuts the power during 2s. This accessory is connected in place of one of the two E-brakes, usually on the left of the handlebar.

      How does it work ?

      Just before changing gears, you push on the button, the motor cuts during 2s and the chain can go from one sprocket to the other smoothly like on a classical bike. It is essential when the tension on the chain is important, especially for MTBs or uphill.

This product is under warranty for one year (12 months) from the purchase date provided it has been used according to the recommendations (see our General Conditions of Sale).

There is no warranty for the wear and tear pieces such as bearings, cables, rims, spokes, connectors, fuses, sheath, tires, brake pads etc.

Delivery and preparation of the orders

The delivery of an order includes the preparation (72h00 max) AND the shipment (from 2 to 5 days) for metropolitan France.


Preparation of your parcel :

The preparation delays of your parcels are 72h maximum after your order has been paid for on our website and provided the article is in store.

This delay can vary according to the product requested (especially for bikes, scooters and trailers). For more details, you need to check the description of each article.

In case of payment by check, the delivery delay will depend on the time needed to cash the check. This can take 10 days and is added to the preparation delay of the order.



The shipment of your order

According to your order, we will choose the most suitable mode of transport :

For order of less than 30kg and standard dimension (one kit and/or one battery), the forwarder is GLS. The delivery delay is generally 48h00 (72h00 max).

For bigger and heavier orders (several kits, bike, scooter...), we can use a forwarder (Geodis, DHL, Schenker...). The delivery delay is 72h00 to 5 days.

We will supply the information to help you track your parcel.

We recommend to gather your purchases in one order. We can't gather 2x distinct orders and you will need to pay the freight costs for both.

The parcels are insured andprotected.



Reception of the parcels


What should you do when you receive your parcel :

If the parcel is damaged, report it to the forwarder and clearly specify the problem on the delivery sheet : « damaged motor » or « damaged battery », « cut cable »… and refuse the parcel. The mention « damaged parcel » is not enough to get an exchange or refund.


What should you do if you notice a problem 24h00 after receiving the parcel :

Your parcel seems undamaged on the outside, but once open, you notice damaged products. Send us 3x pictures : a picture of the parcel (damaged or not), a picture of the label, a picture (or more) of the damaged part.

Contact us 48h00 after receiving your damaged parcel and transfer all the details so we can deal with it.
